II Scietific Group Fair- report

Last Thursday, an event enthusiastically awaited by science students, the Students’ Scientific Groups Fair, took place.

At this annual event, aimed primarily at the students beginning their adventure with the scientific work and other activities inherent in the activities of Students’ Scientific Groups, participants had the opportunity to talk to representatives of the SSGs, listen to Professor Surdacki’s lecture and more!

The event took place in the CDK, with both floors hosting stands dedicated to the individual SSGs whose Presidents had volunteered to take part in the event. Waiting at the tables for the attendees were members of the SSGs. It was a unique opportunity to talk on site with so many of them during one huge gathering. Some SSgs prepared short keynote presentations which were addressed to the Participants in the assembly hall.

The official part was chaired by STN President Natalia Zamorska and Magdalena Cieślik – STN Board Member for Finances

The opening lecture was given by Professor Surdacki, supervisor of the STN at the 2nd Department of Cardiology at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. During the lecture, the issues of starting scientific work while still being a Student were discussed, as well as the wide range of opportunities in this field available to our Students.

The final part of the Fair was a discussion around the question of whether the activities of the SKNs at our university should focus exclusively on scientific work, in other words, whether SKNs focusing on teaching clinical skills should be closed or transformed in the future.

Thank you for your participation and feel invited to participate in the next student event at the Medical College, the STN Winter School 23-24.11.2023!
